What does that mean?Nonresident Tuition is reduced 100% for students advanced to doctoral candidacy?
Q. i was looking for a college and under the fees it said "Nonresident Tuition is reduced 100% for students advanced to doctoral candidacy" this is for Ucla i want to go there after next year. i live in england. what does that mean? I think that if you study to be a doctor you don't have to pay nonresident tuition. is that right?

A. That's how I'd interpret it. It also sounds too good to be true. I'd check with the university before you make any plans based on this. I understand that it applies to candidates for a PhD or above. I don't think it has anything to do with studying medicine.

Doctoral Student or Doctoral Candidate?
Q. On a student business card, is it OK to put M.A. next to my name and underneath either: Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student, name of university or Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate, name of university ? Writing only my name, phone, and email feels as if I haven't done anything these past 6 years, but I don't want to be pompous. What is the norm? Thanks!

How much do you make as an engineering or life sciences PhD student?
Q. I'm trying to determine a national (United States) or international average that a doctoral student makes in life sciences or engineering (I'm personally a bioengineer but any engineering field will do)

A. Sciences and engineering usually pay between 13K and 30K depending on what you're doing (TA or RA) and where you go to school. Big cities universities have to pay more. It costs more to live there.
