The general areas of finance are business finance, personal finance, and public finance. Finance includes saving money and often includes lending money. The field of finance deals with the concepts of time, money and risk and how they are interrelated. It also deals with how money is spent and budgeted. Finance works most basically through individuals and business organizations depositing money in a bank. The bank then lends the money out to other individuals or corporations for consumption or investment, and charges interest on the loans. Loans have become increasingly packaged for resale, meaning that an investor buys the loan (debt) from a bank or directly from a corporation. Bonds are debt sold directly to investors from corporations, while that investor can then hold the debt and collect the interest or sell the debt on a secondary market. Banks are the main facilitators of funding through the provision of credit, although private equity, mutual funds, hedge funds, and other organizations have become important as they invest in various forms of debt. Financial assets, known as investments, are financially managed with careful attention to financial risk management to control financial risk. Financial instruments allow many forms of securitized assets to be traded on securities exchanges such as stock exchanges, including debt such as bonds as well as equity in publicly-traded corporations. Central banks act as lenders of last resort and control the money supply, which affects the interest rates charged. As money supply increases, interest rates decrease. From Wikipedia under the

What are the advantages and disadvantages of proprietary financial software and what are the disadvantages and advantages of bespoke software. Also what is proprietary financial software? How could I describe it in a essay? Asked by Gorgeous Luxx - Sun Jan 10 08:48:38 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. "proprietary" typically means 'owned and controlled by some-one else' .. and (as you suggest) often 'bespoke' = reworked / adjusted & 'customised' to your specific requirements ... Some proprietary packages are written from the ground up to suit your needs .. most will simply be 'reworks' of the vendors existing package. The main real advantage is that you can ask for some specific function or capability that is not available to other users and thus gain a competitive advantage over other users (the more mass market package will be aiming to address 80% or the requirements of 80% of the market .. if you need one of the 20% requirements (or are in the 20% of the market not covered) you may have no other choice but to go the proprietary… [cont.] Answered by Steve B - Mon Jan 11 03:01:15 2010 What type of Financial Expert should I look for in my neighborhood ? Q. I want to find a financial professional (that is not a bank trying to sell loans and such and that is not consumer credit counseling) who can help review where we've been, help us see where we are, and help us with a financial boot camp to help us get to where we need to be. I don't know if an Accountant or Financial Planner or Financial Adviser is the right person...We have money issues, and need some outside help, it's clear that we can't get out of this cycle ourselves. As you mentioned it's probably best to stay away from a commission based advisor (insurance, bank, broker) and try to find someone who is fee based. They would be motivated to help make your savings/investments grow over time and not just be trying to sell you a product. Try to find a good CFP in your area, they are required to go through quite a bit of training and ongoing education to maintain their certification. I included a link for your reference. Q. I am taking my california driving test in a few days, and the DMV website says that I need proof of financial responsibility. The car that I will be driving is insured under my friends name, but it does not have my name on the insurance. If I bring his proof of insurance for the car does it count as proof of financial responsibility for me? If not, what do I need to do? Asked by Erebus - Sun Nov 5 22:10:03 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. You got some silly answers! You can't get insurance without a license!!! The car needs to be insured for minimum state liability limits and in good working condition to take the test. When you purchase a car, you will need insurance in your own name. If you continue to drive this car after you get your license, you will then need a non-owner policy.
